Educator Fellows

The Educator Fellows program identifies 8 educators across the MESA early-adopter communities and supports them to develop reusable teaching materials built on the MESA prototype.

Fellowship model

Each Fellow:

  • Receives a stipend per cohort (paid through their institution).
  • Commits to ~40 hours over a 3-month cycle.
  • Delivers one teaching module (Jupyter notebook, RStudio tutorial, or slide deck) demonstrating an MCP-driven scientific workflow.
  • Co-presents the module at a project workshop.
  • Publishes the materials under permissive license with a DOI.

Selection criteria

Fellows are selected based on:

  • Demonstrated teaching experience (graduate or post-grad).
  • Connection to an MESA early-adopter community (ESIIL, NCEMS, AIIRA, or an aligned NSF program).
  • A concrete science use case the Fellow wants to teach with.
